This incumbent will assist with various aspects of research, including supporting the development of data collection instruments, helping collect, clean, and manage large data sets, assist with preparing data for complex analyses, support the preparation of reports and presentations based on results, and provide feedback for making recommendations across various internal and external projects.
Essential Job Duties & Functions
Translates Content. The Evaluation Coordinator will assist with K20 Center's rigorous analytical evaluation of project services through research initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
- Research Planning and Design: Support the design, development, implementation, and management of comprehensive research plans that align with GEAR UP for LIFE's project goals and outcomes.
- Data Collection and Management: Support the design and implementation of data collection protocols for evaluation studies; assist with monitoring accurate and efficient data entry, cleaning, and management.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation: Assist with applying advanced data analysis techniques to ensure robust and reliable research findings; support the interpretation of research results and assist with providing actionable recommendations to inform GEAR UP for LIFE’s implementation and project decision-making; assist with verifying the accuracy, integrity, and ethical standards of all research activities and outputs.
- Quantitative Analysis: Support the use of advanced statistical techniques to analyze quantitative data, as well as multivariate analysis, regression models, and other complex statistical methods as appropriate, including also descriptive and inferential analyses to uncover patterns, trends, and relationships.
- Qualitative Analysis: Support qualitative data analyses, such as coding, thematic analysis, and content analysis, to assist with identifying key themes, patterns, and insights from qualitative data by coordinating software tools for qualitative data analysis (e.g., NVivo, ATLAS.ti).
Dissemination of Findings. The Evaluation Coordinator will support the development of strategic and effective dissemination plans that include high-quality, clear, and engaging dissemination materials that effectively communicate research findings. This professional will help coordinate focused engagement and communication efforts that maximize the visibility and impact of research findings from GEAR UP for LIFE, as well as explore trends that could support a culture of continuous improvement of evaluation and feedback. Key responsibilities include:
- Development of Dissemination Strategies: Assess and support the implementation of comprehensive dissemination plans that outline methods, audiences, and timelines for sharing research findings tailored to reach diverse stakeholder groups, including academic communities, policymakers, practitioners, and the public. All strategies should align with the organization’s goals and maximize the impact of research findings.
- Preparation of Dissemination Materials: Assist with the development of high-quality dissemination materials, including research reports, executive summaries, policy briefs, and presentations that utilize visual aids such as graphs, charts, and infographics to enhance the clarity and impact of findings.
- Engagement and Communication: Support publishing research in high-impact journals and assist with preparing reports/materials to present at professional conferences. Help with using digital platforms (TREK, PLANS, etc.) to broaden the reach and engagement of research dissemination.
- Evaluation and Feedback: Aid in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of dissemination efforts and collecting feedback from stakeholders and audiences to refine and improve future dissemination strategies and materials.
Project Management. The Evaluation Coordinator will assist with evaluation efforts related to the planning, implementation, and oversight of GEAR UP for LIFE’s projects and initiatives. Effective project management assistance ensures that tasks are completed efficiently, within scope, on time, and on budget, contributing to the achievement of GEAR UP for LIFE’s goals. Key responsibilities include:
- Project Planning: Collaborate with stakeholders to assist with developing and implementing detailed project plans, outlining tasks, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Team Coordination: Collaborate with various project roles and responsibilities, offering support and assistance to team members as appropriate.
- Task Execution: Aid in the execution of project tasks, supporting the completion of tasks in accordance with the project plan and within the specified period.
- Communication and Reporting: Assist with organizing and disseminating regular updates, reports, and status meetings to address concerns and facilitate decision-making.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Contribute to the development of positive relationships with project stakeholders, including schools, partners, and team members. Help with addressing stakeholder needs and concerns while keeping them informed about project developments.
Evidence-Based Design. The Evaluation Coordinator will assist with GEAR UP for LIFE's adaptation of evidence-based practices through the systematic search, review, and synthesis of existing literature to inform project-based services. Key responsibilities include:
- Identification of Research Objectives: Contribute to collaborations with relevant stakeholders to define question(s) that need to be addressed through a literature review.
- Search Strategy: Aid in developing a comprehensive search strategy to identify relevant literature sources.
- Literature Search: Assist with collecting, organizing, and cataloging literature sources, as well as support with assessing the quality, relevance, and credibility of the literature sources.
- Synthesis and Analysis: Support identifying key findings and insights from the reviewed, including assistance identifying common themes, trends, and gaps in existing knowledge and research.
- Evidence-Based Recommendations: Assist with offering evidence-based recommendations and insights based on the literature review to facilitate decision-making and project services.
Evaluation and Reporting. The Evaluation Coordinator will measure and assess GEAR UP for LIFE’s implementation of services, ensuring that project objectives are met and providing valuable insights to guide decision-making and improvement. Key responsibilities include:
- Data Collection: Collect, compile, and organize data from field services and participant feedback.
- Reporting Systems: Utilize GEAR UP for LIFE's reporting systems to document and communicate evaluation findings to stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with relevant teams to develop project services based on identified needs. Monitor progress in implementing improvements and adjust strategies as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of services, partner interactions, and evaluation processes and methodologies.
- Performance Metrics: Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned to the team's sponsored research goals.
Editor. The Evaluation Coordinator will maintain effective internal and external communications through the support and publication of only the highest-quality resources by serving as a peer editor for the Research and Evaluation team and:
- Reviewing methodological approach, content, and statistical analysis to ensure that they align with accepted research practices in social science research.
- Collaborating with engaged researchers and stakeholders to ensure that the findings are accessible to the intended audience.
As Needed. Performs various additional duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position. --- Required Education/Experience: Master's degree in education, statistics, or a related discipline.
- 36 months of experience managing/leading multiple projects, including 12 months of relevant experience in data collection and analysis, research, and program design.
Equivalency Substitution: Experience or a combination of education & related experience can be considered in lieu of degree. A one-to-one ratio is used to determine the number of years of experience required in place of a degree.

- Actively participate in K20 Center-sponsored professional learning experiences and, when available, seek certification for learning opportunities.
- Enrolled in a doctoral program associated with an education, statistics, or a related discipline.
- 2 or more published scholarly articles that disseminate research-based findings.
